Zine Publishing houses

MICROCOSM PUBLISHING

This website allows you to distribute your own handmade zines and charge anything for them. This is a positive movement within the zine community, because it allows your zine to be recognised, earn a little cash for your hard work and also you automatically get an insight into the popularity of your zine, which is a huge positive.  However this all sounds good, but there are negatives to this website. Some being, they have to set a criteria to meet if you want to include your seen in their catalogue. Microcosm specialise in self empowerment, history, food etc... so if your zine doesn't fit into those categories, then they aren't the best place for you. Or me, should I say. I would 100 percent say mine doesn't fit into their ethos.

ZINE LAB

"Zinelab is a place for independent publishing. we research handmade techniques for print publishing and graphic design by collecting and creating small magazines – zines. We focus on graphic design, illustration and photography and we are always interested in any kind of creative exchange. our aim is to get in touch with artists and designers from all over the world, to collect and create inspiring works on printed pages. we are always open minded for creative submissions, open projects or collaborations, so if you like just get in touch"

This website is slightly different to the one above, it specialises in the creative arts, such as photography and graphic design. Which is extremely good for me, however it just how much competition there is. This website is slightly harder to get into, but you can contact them to get some insight into zines and also contributing, which as soon as my zine is completed, I will be doing. The website is also very good when it comes to reseach. It shows other succesful zines, so I can take note of what is good and what isn't.
